This German-made preamp is the sole reason I will never return to solid state!

Features:

It features a clean channel, with gain, volume and three-band EQ, and a lead channel. The latter has an extra gain switch, for more gain than you could ever wish for. Oh yeah, and there’s the four-band EQ. Nice.

Furthermore, a boost switch raises the signal with 2 or 3 db, plus a mid-range boost, to cut through the mix when playing solos.

The boost works on both the clean and the lead channel, adding up for a total of four channels.

Sounds:

Fender? Nope, totally different world. Marshall? nah, more like a Rectifier maybe. The reason why I prefer Engl to Mesa Boogie is the fact that, although you can easily get a Metallica crunch, the sound is not as tight as a Mesa, but .. richer. It definitely goes weeeell beyond rock though.
